At SMS Sudamérica, we took on the challenge of resolving critical policy issues for a leading global insurance client. The system, based on the AS/400 platform, was experiencing errors that were negatively impacting customer satisfaction. Without documentation or access to the original development team, our offshore team conducted a reverse engineering of the AS/400 Policy System to gain a thorough understanding of the system and propose rapid, effective solutions.
A multidisciplinary team was formed, working within a Software Factory model, comprised of AS/400 experts, project leaders, and coordinators. This team focused on identifying, documenting, and resolving a series of issues impacting key processes, such as fund transfers, dividend settlements, and checking current accounts.
Thanks to this effort, all the identified problems were resolved, resulting in the regularization of 96% of the affected policies and optimizing the entire product lifecycle. Furthermore, the project was executed in record time, minimizing the impact on the customer experience.
The success of this project not only improved the system’s functionality but also demonstrated the effectiveness of SMS Sudamérica’s offshore business model in Chile. This case marked the beginning of new projects and highlighted our commitment to technical excellence, operational agility, and customer satisfaction.
